About this evaluation
When low mood and focus overlap
Low mood, loss of interest, poor sleep, low energy, and trouble concentrating often travel together. It can be hard to tell which came first. Difficulty focusing may be part of a mood concern, a sign of long-standing attention differences, a result of stress or sleep, or some combination. When the picture is unclear, treatment can feel like trial and error.
BonPsy addresses depression-related questions as diagnostic clarification within a comprehensive evaluation, looking at mood together with attention, anxiety, and thinking skills.
What the evaluation looks at
The evaluation gathers a history of mood, sleep, energy, and daily functioning over time, and uses standardized questionnaires and interview measures to describe current experience. Because concentration and memory complaints are common with low mood, testing may look at attention, processing speed, working memory, and executive functioning. Measures of anxiety and other emotional concerns are often included.
Looking across these areas helps clarify questions such as depression vs. ADHD vs. anxiety, and whether a broader mood pattern, such as bipolar features, should be considered. The evaluation also identifies strengths, which are just as useful for planning.
Who it helps
This evaluation may help when a therapist or physician wants a clearer diagnostic picture, when concentration problems have persisted despite treatment, or when someone wants to understand how mood is affecting learning or work. Age eligibility for your situation is confirmed with the practice.
How results guide treatment
Testing is the foundation of good treatment. The written report summarizes what the evaluation helps clarify and gives recommendations to discuss with your therapist or physician, including approaches and supports that fit the findings. BonPsy provides evaluations only. We do not prescribe medication or provide ongoing therapy. With your written permission, results are shared with your treating providers.
