FAQ

  • Cancellation Policy

Why is there a $300 cancellation fee?
Our clinicians and admin team dedicate significant time preparing for your appointment, blocking out other patients from that spot, and preparing individualized materials, reviewing history, and planning your assessment session in advance. This preparation time ensures you receive the highest quality of care during your appointment.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We require at least 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling requests. Appointments canceled, rescheduled, or missed (no-shows) with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur a $300 cancellation fee.

When must the fee be paid?
The $300 fee must be paid before booking another appointment. This helps us maintain fair scheduling and ensures that our clinicians’ preparation time is respected.

How can I notify the office?
Please contact us by phone or email at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to avoid a cancellation fee.

  • When is Payment Due?

For evaluations, a 50% deposit is due at the initial meeting, with the remainder due at the final testing session. For single-session services like IQ testing, IQ feedback calls, or parent consultations, payment is due at the time of service.

    Do You Offer Payment Plans?

Yes. We understand that psychological testing and therapy can be a significant investment, and we want to make care as accessible as possible. We offer flexible payment plans, as well as financing options through Cherry Pay and CareCredit. These options allow you to spread payments over time, often with low or no interest for qualified applicants.

Please note that we cannot continue processing or releasing a final report if there is an outstanding balance. After your final feedback session, the remaining balance must be paid in full before your completed report can be released. Until payment is received, your evaluation remains at the raw data stage and is not finalized or shared.

Our team is happy to walk you through available payment options to ensure you can complete your evaluation without interruption.

  • Can I use my insurance?

We do still accept a few limited insurance plans; however, the increasing administrative burden placed on providers has caused us to shift primarily to a private pay model.

Many of our clients are still able to receive partial reimbursement for services by submitting claims to their insurance company. Here’s how that process works:

Call your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network benefits for psychological testing services. Common CPT codes to ask about include 96130 and 96132.

Pay BonPsy Wellness directly for services at the time of scheduling or service.

✔ After your evaluation is complete, request a superbill from our Practice Manager.

Submit your superbill to your insurance company. They will determine whether you are eligible for reimbursement.

To make this process easier, you can use Mentaya or Reimbursify, which are online platforms that simplify the process of submitting superbills for potential partial reimbursement from your insurance company.

  • Other Services

Pre Evaluation or Follow up Consultation:

Flat fee of $350 for a 50-minute consultation

Includes follow-up via email/phone to help identify appropriate support resources

    IQ Testing

$600 with all other licensed clinicians

The flat fee for intelligence testing includes a 90-120 minute testing session and a written report of scores. The report includes general information about your child, behavioral observations, your child's scores, and explanation of what the tasks measure.

For further discussion about results and recommendations, parents can opt to schedule a 25-minute follow-up phone call with their child's clinician for $200. Since not every family wants this discussion, we charge separately for this feedback call.

  • Who We Do and Do Not Work With

Our goal is to provide high-quality, clinically sound evaluations in a supportive environment. To ensure that we can deliver accurate and ethical results, we are only able to work with clients who meet certain criteria for testing readiness.

We are not able to provide evaluations for the following situations or individuals:

Individuals who are actively psychotic or unable to sustain attention and participation for a 4–5 hour testing session.

Individuals who are being forced or coerced to undergo testing against their will.

Court-ordered evaluations or any forensic assessments, including those related to:

    Competency or capacity

    Custody disputes

    Disability claims

    Legal or criminal proceedings

Individuals with a current substance use problem or a history of violent behavior.

  • Autism Evaluations

We provide comprehensive psychological testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder; however, we do not administer the ADOS-2. The ADOS-2 is sometimes required for state or disability service eligibility, so please make sure to make an informed decision before proceeding if you are seeking services that specifically require that assessment.

    Age Range:
We offer psychological and neuropsychological testing for individuals ages 7 through 99.

Our team is happy to answer questions and help determine whether Clarity is the right fit for your needs before scheduling an appointment.

  • Do you offer ADHD, Autism, IQ, or Learning Disability Testing?

Yes! We specialize in comprehensive evaluations for ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, IQ testing, learning disabilities, and dyslexia testing. Our team provides expert assessments for children, teens, and adults throughout Orange County, California, including Mission Viejo, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Manhattan Beach and across the entire state of California.

If you live more than 25 miles from our Mission Viejo office, we offer remote (online) psychological testing options. Our secure telehealth platform allows us to complete most parts of the evaluation virtually, while maintaining the same level of clinical accuracy and care as in-person sessions.

Our testing helps identify underlying cognitive, emotional, and behavioral patterns to guide diagnosis, treatment planning, school accommodations (IEPs/504s), and workplace support.

If you’re unsure which type of evaluation you need, our clinical team can help you determine whether ADHD testing, Autism evaluation, or learning disability testing (including dyslexia) is the best fit for your concerns.

  • Understanding Your Insurance

  • Why do you have two pricing tiers — one for insurance and one for private pay?

    That’s a great question!

Our practice is in a transition phase as we move toward a more transparent and affordable out-of-network model. Our former Massachusetts entity, Clarity Psychological Testing, was acquired by another company that also purchased the intellectual property (IP) associated with that brand.

We’ve kept a few legacy insurance contracts under that former name because getting credentialed with insurance companies can take years. This allows us to continue serving clients with existing insurance coverage while we gradually move toward a model that no longer depends on insurance.

Our new professional corporation (PC) operates entirely out of network — giving our clinicians more time to focus on care rather than administrative tasks and prior authorizations.

Our long-term goal is to make therapy and testing more accessible, affordable, and frustration-free, with clear, transparent pricing and a better overall experience for everyone.
